Info
What is this?
This is a blocklist for Newly Registered Domains (NRDs). The list is provided pre-processed in multiple formats for easy use with multiple software platforms. The data comes from multiple sources, which is verified and aggregated into single easy to use feeds.
Why might someone want this?
It is becoming common practise to block NRDs for an amount of time especially on enterprise networks, because NRDs are often used in the process of spreading and controlling malicious software, phishing attacks and other generally unsavoury behaviour.
How long should I block NRDs for?
This isn’t really something that there seems to be any consensus on; not all NRDs are dangerous so you could end up penalising good domains temporarily, but by the time a domain is known to be associated with malicious activity the campaign could already be well underway or even finished. The lists here are designed to block for 7 or 32 days, depending on which one you point your software towards.
Can anyone use this?
Yes. This service is being offered free-of-charge to anyone that wants to use it, whether you’re a person, a business or a public body – you must accept that this service and the data that it provides is made available as-is and without warranty.
How often is the list updated?
Currently, daily – so there’s no point trying to refresh your local copy any more frequently than that.
